Jump On Cheap Flights To Marrakech For A Winter Break
Forget cheap flights to European cities this winter and take a break from the norm with a trip to Marrakech. Even though Marrakech is a popular holiday destination, tourism hasn’t changed the essence of the city. With temperatures rarely dropping below 18C in winter, you couldn’t ask for more from a winter break.
Stay in a Riad for authentic Moroccan holidays. There are traditional style houses, with clay, or mud-brick walls and an interior courtyard or garden. You’ll find genuine Moroccan hospitality here, with the owners of the Riad home-cooking most of your meals. The mosaic tile work and architecture of Riads is astounding, and will really give a true Moroccan touch to your trip here.
Marrakech has some astounding architecture, so make sure to explore the city. One of those is the Koutoubia Mosque, built in 1199 and is visible all over Marrakech. To get some respite from the hustle and bustle in the town, go to the Menara Gardens to relax by the lake. Whilst here, enjoy a spa treatment in the traditional hammams, such as a massage or spa wrap.
You can really splash out in the Moroccan markets, also known as souks, after saving so much on cheap flights to the city. Be warned, it does get extremely busy, so try to go earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds. Whether it’s leather, ceramics, traditional handicrafts or just a bargain or two, finish off your holiday by spending some time at one. Don’t be afraid to haggle – stallholders love it!
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and visit the Majorelle. Designed in the 1920s by the fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, these beautiful gardens have been a relaxing retreat for nearly a century. Luxuriate in the exotic plants, multi-coloured mosaics and tropical flowers that frame the vibrant high walls, it’ll be a trip that you never forget.
